Saturday Snapshots #1
Sunday, June 10, 2012
I've decided to add a weekly blog feature! I'll be calling it Saturday Snapshots. It isn't anything special, mostly it'll just be random photos I'll take, either for practice or just for leisure. :)

Another work-in-progress.
The note attached to the hand stitched canvas bag my custom made shorts came in. :)
Old Cokin filters I inherited from one of my uncles. <3
Connector ring I bought from Camille Co's booth in BU3

Bloggers United 3 + an Epic Rainy Photoshoot
Monday, June 4, 2012
Let me recount to you my epic Saturday adventures. ;)

(WARNING: This is an extremely long and photo heavy post. I apologize in advance. :P)
So last Saturday, I was all set and ready to attend Bloggers United 3 and have a mini photo shoot as well for Ate Trisha's (who is Pam's sister) new clothing business. Our morning started on an unexpected delay, but nevertheless we set off for The Fort to meet up with Pam and Jeck for our little shoot...

How long does happiness last?
Saturday, June 2, 2012
This isn't about anything, really, just things that have been happening lately. I have to share it because it seems so unusual to me.
For the past week or so, I've been very happy. Very. Happy. You may wonder, if I'm so happy, why is it unusual? It's unusual simply because I've never been this kind of happy, the kind of happy that feels content, peaceful and blessed. Like nothing could go wrong, or at least if anything did, it wouldn't matter.
At first I was scared of being so happy. I was scared that it would only be temporary, that it would come at a price. I was paranoid that some universal force would ask for something in return. It's happened to me before, so I can't shake it off. I'm trying to though, and it's been working. I feel happy and positive everyday. And everyday, something good and almost unexpected happens. It's all fine and wonderful, but it's so weird! For me at least.
I've never felt this blessed before. Somehow, through everything that's happened lately, I feel my faith getting firmer everyday. I'm not as religious as most people I know, but I still believe. I may have my own interpretations of a few things, but I'm still holding strong to my faith. I'm content and grounded. I'm happy because everyone else around me is happy too.
There's not much to post about here, I just wanted to at least mark this time and remember it. Who knows how long this feeling will last? All I can do is live it day by day. I'm glad I developed my "Be Positive!" attitude, I don't know what I would've done without it.

Well, good night. :)

P.S. Thank for the Kreativ Blogger award, Denise! As of now, I am still weeping from the joy and shock, so I'll post about it next time. :'))
P.P.S. I've been planning a little makeover for my blog, so if you ever encounter it looking wonky, I'm just trying to fix it up. ;)

Stepdad: Ordinaire
Tuesday, May 22, 2012

So two weeks back, when I was still having sleeping problems and surfed the internet until the sun came up (literally, mind you), I came upon this little gem of a band called Stepdad. The first song I heard from them was "Find Love" and I just fell in love with it and searched for an album or EP that might be in existence. I was extremely glad to have found their Ordinaire EP! I streamed the whole EP on their site and just loved every single song. I was waiting to dislike at least one, but I'm glad to say I didn't. They're just so fun and electric, and have a massive pop sound. I really can't explain it properly so just listen!

Enjoy! :)

"Whatever will be, will be"

Oh how I missed blogging! If it isn't obvious, I've been on a bit of a break, haven't I?

I've been quite "busy" I suppose, spending time with friends, with family, and by myself. Also, I've been busy with college enrollment and other requirements. It's been quite a surreal and fun experience. Finally, I've seen our campus and felt it around a bit. After all, UP Manila will be my home for the next four years (when all goes well of course, I'm sure it'll be hard work). Oh, and I've met my blockmates! I honestly feel like I'm lucky to be blockmates with a group of seemingly friendly and humorous people! :D We're slowly becoming a family. :))

Anyway, I'm glad I'm starting to get a bit busy already. At first, I was kind of overwhelmed by the whole idea of finally entering college. I started to get paranoid, thinking "how in the world will I do this?" and "how the hell will I fit in?". That went on for two days until I just finally told myself to chill the eff out and just do it. Now, I'm extremely excited to enter college! Still a tad bit nervous of course, but I'm feeling positive vibes.

I guess I might post a number of posts for the rest of the week so I can properly relate what I've been up to. Some music posts, nail art posts ('cause I'm not over it yet), and probably a whole post about how AWESOME and EPIC BBC's Sherlock TV series is. I'm still having a hangover from it's epic-ness after finishing seasons 1 and 2. If you've watched it and loved it, then you probably know what I'm feeling now. If you haven't, give it a shot! You don't even have to read the original stories (although it would make it even better if you did) as it is a contemporary adaptation.

Until my next post/s! :D

Be With You
Wednesday, April 25, 2012

A summary of my summer playlist, which in fact gets longer as the summer days flow by. Not that I mind really. Nothing feels better than listening to music and discovering fresh and underrated artists.

Left to right, top to bottom:
1. "i want! i want!" by Walk The Moon
2. "His + Hers" by The Hawk In Paris
3. "Leagues EP" by Leagues
4. "Baby" by Tribes
5. "Moving Closer" and "Davenport" by Never The Strangers
6. "Open EP" by Rhye
7. "Cold Coffee" by Ed Sheeran
8. "Keep It Low" by The Hundred in the Hands
9. "Heart In Your Heartbreak" by The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart
10. "A Different Kind Of Fix" by Bombay Bicycle Club
11. "This Sweet Love" by James Yuill
12. "Broken Bottles" by Silversun Pickups

For the record, I believe that Bombay Bicycle Club's album A Different Kind Of Fix should be part of every summer playlist for this summer and all summers yet to come. The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart should probably be with them too. Or is it just me? :))
Another band/artist (you can't be sure anymore, with the names they choose and all) that I just have to include now is Vacationer. I am currently listening to their songs Great Love and Be With You and I promise you, they're gold.

Just another music-and-movies kind of summer for me.

We've got no money, but we've got heart
Friday, April 20, 2012

I present to you Walk the Moon's song, Anna Sun, one of my all time favorite songs!
I stumbled upon this gem of a song earlier this year and I haven't stopped listening since. It's just such a feel good song and absolutely perfect for a good vibe summer. The video never fails to make me smile either, especially the dance part. How fun would it have been to be an extra on this video? Oh I dunno, it's just ridiculously happy!

As of now, the only thing playing non-stop on my iPod is Walk the Moon's EP, Anna Sun. I'll be checking out their previous albums and EP as well.

Happy listening! :)

just keep swimming
Just me and my best friends again. These photos are from last Tuesday when we went swimming at the clubhouse in Citta Della. We've somehow made this a summer tradition of sorts. It was Jeck's first time with us though.

I didn't take much pictures since I only had my phone with me. Myka has a lot more in her post though. :) I enjoyed swimming around too much to get out of the pool and snap some.

Have I expressed how much I love swimming? When I got home, my body was aching all over! :))

I think we got there at around 11. We sat for a while just chatting before we decided to hit the pool.

Time spent with these guys is just the best, I swear. :)

Until my next post.

Suit Up!
Wednesday, April 18, 2012
Summer boredom led me to this:
My tuxedo nail art.
Recently, I've been looking around the inter-webs and encountered a bunch of nail art designs and tutorials that seemed interesting. Used this tutorial as somewhat of a mental guide. Since I had a few polishes and a nail art pen I've been playing around pointlessly with, I decided to try my hand at it. Not the most perfect, but I'm proud it isn't a complete disaster. Just a bit bumpy though. :)) My other hand wasn't too bad either, considering the fact that I had to use my non-dominant hand.
a bad photo as an excuse for a rather messy work :))
Seems I've found another creative outlet. I'll try a few other designs in the next few days. :)

a bunch of crazy and a dash of fun
Friday, April 13, 2012
Just a day spent with my most amazing, wonderful, and crazy best friends for life. And no, I don't care how corny that just sounded. :P
We were actually supposed to go swimming, but then it seemed timing wasn't that good because, for one, we were broke (well, three of us at least) and also, we had no transportation. So we ended up at my place and just hung out, caught up a bit with each other, watched a movie, ate a lot of pancit canton, and took lots of pictures.

Lots and lots of burst! :))

I swear, I am in love with this song. I have no other words.
---
I’m a fool for that shake in your thighs
I’m a fool for that sound in your sighs
I’m a fool for your belly
I’m a fool for your love

I wanna make this plain
Oh, I know you’re faded
Hmm, but stay, don’t close your eyes

Caught in this pool held in your eyes
Caught like a fool without a line
We’re in a natural spring
With this gentle sting between us

I wanna make this plain
Oh I know you’re faded
Hmm, but stay, don’t close your eyes

Hmm, stay open.

oh summer...
(C) Anya Cruz
While everyone else around me seems to be busy or just out on vacation this Holy Week, I've actually just been stuck at home doing not much of anything. I've barely touched the laptop, only just to check on random blogs and other accounts I have. I always have my iPod Touch beside me all the time, which is my all-in-one gadget right now. Music, internet, Twitter updates, random five-minute game plays on various apps--all on my iPod. Although the summer heat has made me too lazy to do even those.

Dark was the night...
Wednesday, April 4, 2012
by Fredrik Skjellum

This photo somewhat sums up the vibe I had last Friday night while walking around Hillsborough with my friends. I wish I had taken a photo that night, but I was too caught up in the moment then to even bother whipping out my phone.

Remember that post where I explained how I am a nocturnal kind of person? Well, that night was the most perfect example of a wonderful night, and further strengthens that fact.

The streetlights were dim, the sky was dark and heavy as if about to pour rain on us at any minute, and the trees cast mysterious shadows and silhouettes. At some point I zoned out from what my friends were talking and laughing about to gaze around and feel the summer night breeze. It felt so peaceful and calm, my ideal kind of night. I wish that our subdivision was this nice at night.

It was the lightest, happiest, and most content I had felt in a while.

As I conversed with Pau's many impersonations that night, namely a guy from Filinvest named "Paul", a girl named "Paula" raised in the Philippines but originally from an imaginary place called 'Nosbenkenyenta', and a seeming 'stonehead' named 'Paolo', I ignored the exhausted protests of my aching back and just laughed and felt the energy of the night. But honestly, conversing with three different personalities coming from one crazy person is actually crazy fun. Haha, I love you Pau! :))

When we finally reached the playground, I sat by the sidewalk as my friend played some silly sentimental music, the kind I don't listen to anymore. Somehow, the vibe of the music got to me and I started my 'emotive contemplating', something I used to do when I was younger. In other words, nag-emote ako. :P

Meanwhile, the other guys were fooling around by the creepy restroom in the park. It reminded me of Goosebumps stories in a way. In fact, Hillsborough at night could probably inspire a Goosebump story.

After we headed back to Jak's house, a few of us hung out by the garage, then we decided to hang out in the middle of the street. Luckily there weren't a lot of cars passing.
I felt so full that night. That's the part of that day I want to repeat the most.

See you in my next post, hopefully I'll get our graduation photos then.

Random title from The Drums. :P
I went swimming with my good friends and classmates last Friday in Hillsborough Alabang, and it was a lot of fun. Especially the slide! Let me tell you, we just couldn't get enough of the slide. :))

Open up your heart
Tuesday, March 20, 2012
Just some photos of silhouettes that kind of remind me of summer
Today was our last day of academics at school, and I just can't help but feel elated and free. The time to relax has arrived, I think to myself. Although graduation rehearsals and graduation songs still need to be taken care of, I just can't stop this carefree feeling anymore.
So here we are, counting down the last few days of our high school lives. It’s almost bittersweet, since I've grown up with my batch mates and they’re somewhat a second family. But really, it is much sweeter than it is bitter. Though I’m quite nervous about entering one of the most prestigious universities in our country and about how college life will be for me, I can say I’m excited and ready to take on the challenge.

Before all that though, let’s rejoice for the in-between; SUMMER!

Really, I don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for summer. It seemed like it would never arrive. But now, here we are, and I can’t wait to relax, laze around and plan some time out with good company. :)
Often times during summer, my family doesn't really make big plans for out-of-town trips or whatnot. But that doesn't hinder me from enjoying myself. Though I love road trips, I do still cherish time alone at home with a good book and a summer playlist. I do hope we go out-of-town this time though!

Hello summer!
